I discovered my love for Cardiology when I realized I enjoyed caring for critically ill patients in the cardiac intensive care unit. Most of these patients had advanced heart failure with cardiogenic shock, a life-threatening condition where the heart is not pumping enough blood to the body. I resolved to try to equip myself as best as possible to care for such patients. This resulted in my pursuit of becoming an interventional as well as an advanced heart failure cardiologist. My passion is to help improve the care of patients using a multi-disciplinary team based approach, so they can return to their lives by heart recovery or support until they can undergo a transplant or placement of a permanent heart pump. I also work hard to keep patients from developing advanced heart failure. I perform minimally invasive procedures such as placement of heart stents in blockages in the arteries around the heart and placing temporary heart pumps when the heart is too weak to function. To me, there is no greater accomplishment than helping care for the patients at their sickest, and watching them walking out of the hospital themselves. The relationships I develop caring for patients through these difficult times is the best part of my job.
