Camp ReLEAF

Duke HomeCare & Hospice

Camp ReLEAF 2026, Duke Hospice’s annual bereavement camp for children in K-8th grade, will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Camp New Hope in Chapel Hill. Volunteers are a large part of Camp ReLEAF’s success and are needed in all areas of camp, from administrative tasks prior to and during camp (supply preparations and registration), “behind the scenes” tasks before and during camp (supply preparation and cleanup; food preparation, serving, and cleanup), activity helpers, and direct camper support through being a day.

If you are interested in volunteering for Camp ReLEAF 2026 or would like more information, please be in touch with the Camp ReLEAF team by emailing dhchcamp@dm.duke.edu or calling 919-815-0592. Duke does require volunteers to have special training in working with minors and a background check. Camp ReLEAF 2026 volunteer training will be held on the morning of March 28.

We are currently having the highest need for:

  • Male counselors to work directly with the campers in a cabin group.
  • Spanish speakers who are available to assist with Spanish-speaking families during registration and a parent/caregiver meeting.
  • Administrative volunteers to help make everything flow smoothly during camp.
  • Administrative support before camp and the day of camp to help coordinate other volunteers.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Camp ReLEAF volunteers must be at least 18 years old at the time of application submission.
  • Camp ReLEAF volunteers must complete a background check.
  • Camp ReLEAF volunteers must complete all required training.
