Access
The Duke Specialty Pharmacy has access to hard-to-find medications. If we do not have a medication in stock, we can usually obtain it the next business day.
Insurance Claims Management
Many of the medications we provide are costly. We will work with your insurance company to make sure you are getting the most from your coverage. We also work with Medicare, NC Medicaid, and any supplemental insurance coverage you have.
Transfers
If we are out-of-network with your insurance or cannot obtain a medication for you, we will transfer your prescription to another in-network pharmacy that can provide your medication at the lowest cost.
Prior Authorizations
Many insurance companies require additional information to cover specialty medications. We will work with you, your provider, and your insurance company to obtain these authorizations before filling your medication.
Patient Assistance Programs
If you are uninsured or underinsured, we can connect you with manufacturer patient assistance programs and private foundations to reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
Individualized Therapy Plans
Our pharmacists regularly review your needs and provide counseling on medication use. Our staff will provide services to get the best results from your specialty medication therapy, including refill reminders, case management, and disease state management.
