Chaplain Services and Education
Duke Raleigh chaplains offer spiritual care, counseling, and emotional support to our patients, families, and staff. The Chaplain Services Department also offers the following services:
- Spiritual assessment, intervention, comfort, and nurturing
- Facilitation and support of religious practices of all faiths and spiritual paths
- Non-judgmental listening
- Crisis intervention
- Advocacy for patients and staff
- Coordination of bereavement and decedent care services
- Collaboration with members of the healthcare team
- Consultations on advance directives, end-of-life decisions, and ethical issues
To request a visit from a chaplain on weekdays, call Chaplain Services at 919-812-7972. During the evenings and weekends, ask your nurse to arrange for you to speak with a chaplain.
LGBTQ+ Patient Services
Duke Raleigh is recognized as leader in LGBTQ+ health care by the Human Rights Campaign’s Healthcare Equality Index. Because we are part of the larger Duke University Health System, our LGBTQ+ identified patients gain access to all Duke’s unique LGBTQ support resources including services at the Duke Family Medicine Center.

Case Management Services
Case managers provide patient navigation services, working closely with the physician and health care team to coordinate your care during hospitalization to ensure you have the resources and services needed at discharge.
Case managers work with:
- you and your health care team to make sure you and your family understand and can actively participate in your plan of care
- your insurance company to obtain authorization for hospital services based on your insurance plan and benefits
- health care agencies to coordinate home care ordered by your doctor for after you leave the hospital
- you, your health care team, and yourinsurance company to coordinate your discharge needs
Duke Raleigh’s Department of Case Management can be reached at 919-954-3955, seven days a week from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Duke Raleigh’s cancer center clinics also offer the services of a clinical social worker, Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and can be reached at 919-862-5400.
Interpreters
Interpreters are available free of charge to patients that are hearing impaired, have difficulty speaking, or understanding English. Please contact your nurse if you need interpreter assistance.
