Duke Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine North Durham is a referral-only clinic. Our adolescent medicine specialists provide high-quality medical care to adolescents and young adults 12-30 years of age. We understand this is a critical time in a young person’s life. We respect each individual, support their physical and emotional growth, and offer education and skill-building to help adolescents transition to thriving, independent adults.

Duke adolescent and young adult medicine experts help teens and young adults address health issues and build essential life skills so they can become healthy, thriving, and independent adults.
Adolescent Medicine
We work with adolescents and young adults who benefit from medical care for the following reasons.
Reproductive Health
- Menstrual disorders, including polycystic ovary syndrome, abnormal uterine bleeding, and amenorrhea
- Contraception, including long-acting reversible contraception

- Sexually transmitted infections

- Eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, ARFID and bulimia nervosa
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
- Evaluation of organic causes of mood disorders
- Diagnosis and medical management of depression and anxiety
- Evaluation of substance use disorders
Chronic Medical Conditions
- We work closely with adolescents and young adults who are diagnosed with chronic illnesses including neurodevelopmental disabilities.
