Duke Children’s Healthy Lifestyle program helps children overcome the range of conditions associated with excess body weight.
Services
The Duke Children’s Healthy Lifestyles Program is a comprehensive weight management program for children and teens whose BMI is at or above the 95th percentile for their age.
Our team of pediatricians, dietitians, physical therapists, and behavioral specialists help your family learn valuable and practical ways to eat healthier and become more active. We use a personalized approach to help your child adopt long-term healthy habits and prevent the health concerns associated with obesity.
Your child’s comprehensive treatment plan may include dietary counseling, mental health counseling, and activity counseling.
Advanced treatment options may include medication and/or a medically supervised eating plan. Weight loss surgery may be an option for some children ages 14 and older.

Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher.
