Pharmacy Services

Services Overview

We accept most major insurance plans and can accept electronically prescribed medications.

We also offer:

  • Medication education to ensure patients and employees understand what the medicine is used for, dosing instructions, side effects, storage, and disposal.
  • Checks to avoid drug interactions between current medications and new medications.
  • Special order medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, often for next-day pick-up.
  • Meds to Beds, a bedside delivery service that provide medications to patients at their bedside when discharging from Duke University Hospital inpatient units. This eliminates the need to stop at a pharmacy on the way home for medications needed after hospitalization.
  • Curbside delivery service. Call the pharmacy before you arrive to ensure your prescriptions are ready for pickup, and to provide payment information, such as a credit card. Then, call when you arrive at the designated pickup location.
  • Assistance to patients who need manufacturer coupons to coincide with primary insurance to either reduce or eliminate co-pays. Assistance to patients who need to locate medications at local pharmacies when not in stock, but needed immediately.
  • A 90-day supply of maintenance medications to Duke insured employees at mail order prices.

Body

Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
