Duke Regional Hospital Colorectal Surgery

Open
Type:Duke Regional Hospital Outpatient Department
Hospital-based clinics are outpatient departments of an individual Duke hospital and have additional facility charges. Some insurance companies process bills with a deductible and coinsurance rather than as a co-pay as for an office visit. This may impact the amount of the bill you are responsible for after payment from your insurance plan. Check with your insurance company before your visit to determine what your responsibility will be.

Duke colorectal surgeons and nurse practitioners at this clinic treat patients who suspect or require surgery for diseases and discomfort in the small intestine, colon, rectum, and anus.

Services

You may be seen by a colorectal nurse practitioner or surgeon in this clinic if you have symptoms indicating the presence of:

We conduct a complete medical history and physical exam. Additional testing may be required to confirm your diagnosis. This may include X-ray, CT, or MRI. These tests are performed nearby.

Endoscopic Procedures

You may also need to undergo an endoscopic procedure, which requires the insertion of a device through the mouth or the anus. It allows your doctor to see inside the upper or lower portions of your gastrointestinal tract. Endoscopic procedures include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, anoscopy, and proctoscopy.

These procedures may be performed to diagnose a condition. Treatment may be performed at the same time, depending on what your doctor finds. Some of these procedures are performed in our clinic; others are performed at an ambulatory surgery center, or in the hospital.

Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network.
