Our Providers
Orthopaedic Specialists in Apex Treat Joint Pain and Injuries
Make an appointment at our Apex orthopaedic clinic if you experience an injury or chronic pain in your feet, ankles, knees, hips, elbows, shoulders, wrists or spine.
We diagnose and treat sprains, strains, fractures, and tendon and ligament tears. We also evaluate and treat chronic joint pain that limits your range of motion or makes it difficult to perform routine activities.
Our physician assistants and nurse practitioners are often the first medical professionals you will see. They are specially trained in joint and bone pain and injuries. They perform exams, refer you for imaging scans (x-ray, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound are available right in our office), and explain your results.
Nonsurgical Treatments Offered
As part of your treatment plan, we may recommend a range of nonsurgical orthopaedic treatments, such as bracing and casting, joint injections, and more. Physical therapy takes place in a different clinic in the same building.
Chiropractic Care
Our on-staff chiropractor can help relieve pain and improve function in people with low-back pain and other types of back pain. This often includes spinal manipulation (also called manual manipulation), exercise advice, and self-care recommendations.
Physiatrist Care
Our physiatrists are medical doctors who teach you how to safely strengthen muscles, stabilize joints, rehabilitate injuries, and increase your flexibility. They offer a variety of treatments including image-guided injections. Physiatrists may help you find relief from chronic pain with or without surgery.
Orthopaedic Surgeons in Apex
Surgery may be needed if your injury is serious and nonsurgical options are not effective. It may also be recommended if you experience chronic pain that cannot be corrected by joint replacement surgery. Hip preservation surgery may be an option if you have a painful hip condition such as hip dysplasia, hip impingement, or avascular necrosis. A Duke pediatric spine surgeon is available for appointments to evaluate your child for scoliosis and other spine-related conditions.
To determine if surgery is necessary, you will be evaluated by an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in your type of joint injury. They will see you before and after your surgery at this clinic. Operations are performed at Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center Arringdon and Duke Raleigh.
Accepted Insurance
Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
