Duke Children's Evaluation Center

Open
Type:Duke University Hospital Outpatient Department
Hospital-based clinics are outpatient departments of an individual Duke hospital and have additional facility charges. Some insurance companies process bills with a deductible and coinsurance rather than as a co-pay as for an office visit. This may impact the amount of the bill you are responsible for after payment from your insurance plan. Check with your insurance company before your visit to determine what your responsibility will be.

Our team at the Duke Children's Evaluation Center includes experts in pediatric care, including psychiatrists and social workers. We offer a family-centered environment for all patients and their loved ones so we can provide timely care for pediatric behavioral health needs and act as a starting point for any long-term needs for you and your child. A referral from a Duke provider is required.

Services

Our care team evaluates children and young adults up to age 25. We provide short-term treatment to address a variety of needs:

When you arrive at our center, you’ll meet with one of our providers for an evaluation which may include a conversational interview and assessment. This helps our team learn more about you, your child’s symptoms, and how we can help, as well as determine needs for medication or short-term treatments.

We offer individual, family, and group therapy sessions at our center. If your child requires long-term help with a disorder or behavioral health need, we can refer you to other providers or specialists at Duke Health or in the community.

Accepted Insurance

Insurance coverage for the Duke Children's Evaluation Center varies based on your plan. We currently accept all Duke Employee insurance. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that this location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. For more information, please call the clinic.
