Duke Cancer Center Wound Ostomy Clinic
The Duke Cancer Center Wound Ostomy Clinic offers information, help, and support for people living with a stoma, an opening in the abdomen that allows for the passage of stool or urine into a pouch. Our clinic is led by advanced nurse practitioners trained in helping people who face challenges related to an ostomy, pre-operative education, pouching issues, supply needs, or general management and care.

Our Providers
Services
Our nurse practitioners offer assistance for ostomy-related issues or concerns, as well as skin and wound care for people with cancer.
General Ostomy Services:
- Pre-operative consultations for stoma-site marking in patients requiring bowel or urinary diversion
- Assistance with product selection
- Consultation for problems such as pouch leaking or skin irritation
- Pre- and post-operative counseling for ostomy management
- Counseling, education, and care for feeding/drainage tubes or fistulae
- Education and instruction in ostomy irrigation techniques
- Information about lifestyle, intimacy, diet, and clothing options
- Partner with UOAA for peer-to-peer support group information
- Recommendations for issues such as peristomal hernias or stoma prolapse
- Assistance with pediatric patients
Wound Services for Cancer Patients:
- Treatment of pressure injuries
- Dressing selection for delayed surgical healing
- Topical care for radiation skin damage
- Symptom management for malignant wounds
Support Services
We provide a wide range of support services to you during and after your treatment. It’s part of our commitment to treating your whole person, not just your cancer. These services, which range from self-image resources, support groups for you and your loved ones, our Pets at Duke program and much more, are provided as part of our comprehensive approach to your cancer care.
Accepted Insurance
Duke Health contracts with most major health insurance carriers and transplant networks, including the ones listed below. Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Duke Cancer Center Wound Ostomy Clinic is located on the fifth floor of the Duke Cancer Center.

Parking
Duke Medicine Circle Parking Garage:
- Located at 302 Trent Drive and features a climate-controlled, enclosed walkway to Duke Clinic. A free shuttle is located just outside the garage to escort you to the Duke Medicine Pavilion entrance. This parking garage is most convenient for patients and visitors going to the Duke Medicine Pavilion, Duke Cancer Center, and Duke Clinic.
- Cost: $2 per hour or a maximum $12 per day.
Additional Parking Information:
- Parking for oversized vehicles is located adjacent to the Duke University Hospital parking deck. To obtain a pass for an oversized vehicle, call 919-684-7275.
- Valet parking is also available at the entrance to Duke Clinic, Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm for $14 per visit.
- One-use parking passes ($7 each) and five-use parking passes ($35 each) are available for patients visiting Duke for an appointment, patients in the hospital, and visitors of patients admitted to Duke University Hospital.
- To purchase discounted parking passes, visit an information desk at Duke Central Tower, Duke Medicine Pavilion, the Duke University Hospital entrance, Duke Cancer Center, or Duke Clinic (1st floor main lobby) to obtain a Discounted Parking Authorization Form. You can then go to the parking garage or parking office to purchase the passes. Parking passes expire after one year.

Public Transportation
