Nourish: Fundamentals of Medical Weight Management FAQ

Read answers to frequently asked questions about Duke Health & Well-Being's Nourish: Fundamentals of Medical Weight Management program, including how it works, who can benefit from it, and how to access materials.

Nourish: Fundamentals of Medical Weight Management is a series of four interactive, online modules. It includes an introduction to medical weight management and explores nutrition, exercise, and mental well-being. It is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to change eating habits, improve exercise routines, and adopt a healthier lifestyle to meet wellness goals.

Each module contains content from Duke Health & Well-Being providers who are recognized experts in their field. This information can help you set and achieve realistic health goals, overcome setbacks, and create the right mindset for long-term lifestyle changes that lead to successful weight management. The information in this series is based on what we’ve learned from decades of evidence-based, non-judgmental care for people at our Durham campus.

The modules were created by experts from Duke Health & Well-Being, and combine academic research and practical information from Duke Health doctors, nutritionists, dieticians, exercise physiologists, and other professionals who care for people at Duke Integrative Medicine, Duke Lifestyle and Weight Management Center, and the Duke Health & Fitness Center.

You can view and complete the self-paced, online modules on your own time. You will have one year from the date you register to complete and revisit content. You will also get a copy of your course journal entries and materials. These tools can help you implement diet and fitness changes based on a plan you create.

We offer educational materials created by a range of experts, so you get insight from different health specialties. Because our course is on-demand, you can take as long as you'd like to work through our interactive content. You can access the training for one year after you register.

Nourish: Fundamentals of Medical Weight Management is helpful to anyone interested in managing their weight, losing weight, or looking for new ways to improve their well-being. Healthcare professionals who want to keep up to date with the latest research in weight management can also benefit.

The course can be accessed from a computer with an internet connection. While it will work on any browser, we recommend Chrome or Safari to ensure the best experience. While it can be accessed on a mobile device, we recommend using a computer rather than a phone or other mobile device to take each module.

Whenever you exit a session, your progress will be saved so you can pick up where you left off when you return. You are not required to complete a chapter before you log out.
