Spiritual Care for People of All Faiths

Chaplain Services fulfills the spiritual dimension of the Duke Health mission. As members of the health care team, our staff provides counseling and support to patients, families, caregivers, visitors, and staff.

Chaplain services are available at all Duke Health hospitals any time of day or night. We provide support, guidance, and someone to listen when you or a loved one is in need. Whether you’re facing a sudden health challenge or end-of-life decisions, need guidance on ethical decision-making, or need a place to focus on prayer and meditation, we’re here for you. We provide:

  • Multi-faith chapels for prayer, meditation, and reflection
  • Facilitation and support of religious practices of all faiths 
  • 24-hour on-call chaplain for health emergencies
  • Access to community chaplains from many faiths
  • Weekly religious and spiritual health programming
  • Multi-faith pastoral care and emotional support 
  • Guidance in dealing with health challenges of any type
  • Advocacy for patients and staff
  • Crisis intervention
  • Advice on ethical issues
  • Consultations on end-of-life decisions and advanced directives

Request Chaplain Services

Our chaplains are available day or night to offer spiritual and emotional support to people of all faiths and belief systems. This includes assistance for anyone in need of prayer or spiritual counsel. You may make a request for a religious ritual, feel lonely, grieving a loss, or for help celebrating a religious or spiritual occasion. Our team is a resource for you.
