My research interests focus on improving the care of patients with brain and spine disorders, including brain and spine tumors, meningiomas, metastatic disease, spinal stenosis, degenerative spine conditions, and other complex neurosurgical conditions. I am interested in developing and applying innovative surgical techniques and technology to improve safety, accuracy, recovery, and long-term outcomes. My goal is to advance neurosurgical care through clinical research and collaboration while helping patients return to their highest level of function and quality of life.

About Me
I am a board-certified neurosurgeon at Duke Raleigh Hospital, providing comprehensive brain and spine care to patients throughout Raleigh and Wake County. My practice encompasses cranial and spinal neurosurgery, including minimally invasive, endoscopic, robotic-assisted, and open procedures. I have particular interests in degenerative spine disease, cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis, cervical myelopathy, spinal cord compression, brain and spinal tumors, metastatic disease, meningiomas, and trigeminal neuralgia. I joined Duke Raleigh after completing my service as an active-duty neurosurgeon in the U.S. Army. During my military career, I had the privilege to care for service members and their families in deployed environments and major military medical centers, while also working in academic neurosurgical settings. This experience shaped my commitment to caring for patients with complex neurological conditions. I believe treatment should be individualized to each patient’s diagnosis, goals, and unique circumstances. My goal is to combine advanced surgical techniques with compassionate care to preserve neurological function, improve quality of life, and achieve the best possible outcome for every patient.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall clinician rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst clinician possible and 10 is the best clinician possible, what number would you use to rate this clinician?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all clinicians. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of clinicians receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.
