About Me

I specialize in reconstructive and prosthetic urology, with a particular focus on penile implant surgery for erectile dysfunction. I have extensive experience with both primary and complex penile implant procedures, including revision and replacement surgery for patients with prior pelvic surgery, radiation, or previous implants.

I also specialize in the surgical treatment of male urinary incontinence, including artificial urinary sphincters, male slings, and the ProACT adjustable continence system, as well as complex urethral stricture disease.

I enjoy this field because every patient and problem is different. I believe successful care begins with understanding each patient’s goals, clearly explaining the available options, and setting realistic expectations. I work with each patient to develop an individualized treatment plan that best meets his needs and helps him return to the activities that are important to him.

Ratings and Reviews

The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall clinician rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst clinician possible and 10 is the best clinician possible, what number would you use to rate this clinician?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all clinicians. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of clinicians receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

My research focuses on improving outcomes for men undergoing prosthetic and reconstructive urologic surgery, particularly penile implant and artificial urinary sphincter surgery. I am interested in improving surgical techniques, preventing and managing complications such as infection, and developing better approaches to complex and revision surgery. My goal is to use this research to make these procedures safer, more effective, and more durable for patients.
