At our on-site optical shop, we help you choose the frames, eyeglass lenses, or contact lenses that are right for you. We offer prescription lenses with the latest digital lens technology. designer sunglasses, the full range of contact lenses including scleral and custom soft lenses, and much more. There is no need to make an appointment, and walk-ins are welcome. Be sure to bring a current glasses or contact lens prescription from your eye doctor.

Please note: This optical shop is not in-network for NC Medicaid and other vision plans for eyeglasses. After your eye exam, you will receive a valid prescription that may be filled at any optical provider that accepts NC Medicaid or your vision insurance for eyewear prescriptions. For in-network eyeglasses providers, please contact your insurance company.

Our café serves gourmet coffee and prepared food including breakfast items, salads, and sandwiches. It is open every weekday from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm. The Eye Center also provides indoor access to the Duke University Hospital cafeteria and other dining options such as Starbucks and Subway, as well as the hospital gift shop.
