Save the Date for Our 2026 Conference

We will offer our next in-person event on September 9 and September 10, 2026. Registration for attendees will open on June 1, 2026. Exhibitor and sponsor registration is now open. 

In-Person Conference Specifics

You can now register for either conference date -- September 9 or September 10, 2026. The same content will be offered on both days. You can register for both days if you wish.

Registration for family caregivers costs $20 (lunch and all event-day activities included). Professionals can attend for $75.

Yes, you can register for both conference days. However, the content, activities, and exhibitors will be the same on each conference day. There are enough concurrent sessions and event activities to give yourself a different educational experience each day if you choose.

The event will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, NC. Use this listing on Google Maps for directions.

No. Parking for all attendees is available for free at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel. You will see signs with a QR code when you enter the parking lot. Disregard these signs.

Registered family caregivers and professionals can receive a full refund by cancelling by 11:59 pm on Aug. 23. There are no refunds for exhibitors or sponsors.

No. All presentations and sessions are first-come, first-seated. If a session you want to attend is full, you can choose from up to four other sessions that will also be going on at the same time.

No. However, we do offer opportunity for you to access additional educational content by registering for our virtual on-demand content.

Yes. We will have interpreters at the event that will translate the event content into Spanish.

Guide dogs registered with the state of North Carolina are welcome. We cannot host emotional support animals.

Lunch will be provided at the event for those who paid the $20 caregiver registration type and for all professionals who paid the $75 fee. You can let us know about any food allergies on your registration form.

Masks are optional at the in-person Duke Caregiver Community Event. We recommend that anyone experiencing cold-like respiratory symptoms, even after a negative COVID test, continue to wear a mask indoors until symptoms resolve. Please note that any individuals who feel more comfortable continuing to mask should do so, and all members of the community should respect the rights of those who wish to remain masked. Masks and hand sanitizer will be made available to attendees.

We do not have a specific date for the close of registration. The registration will close once the event reaches capacity. 

Session offerings are based on attendee feedback and requests from surveys. If you are interested in speaking, please email Nicole Clagett. Conference sessions are finalized by January each year. 

DukeWELL-ness Clinic

Join us at the DukeWELL-ness Clinic and prioritize your well-being conveniently and efficiently. Experience a comprehensive wellness visit where our dedicated team will focus on vital aspects of your health through screenings, education, and vaccinations.

Be sure to stop by the health clinic early in the day to sign up for your wellness slot. Proof of insurance must be presented for a flu vaccination. 

Available screenings include: 

  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Depression
  • Diabetes/A1C
  • Cholesterol
  • Vision
  • Retina Screening
  • Zarit Caregiver Burden Screening

In addition, we’ll provide education on cardiac scoring, breast & lung health, and flu vaccinations, and a "Save Your Back!" demonstration. 

Screenings are free. If you choose to have a vaccination, Walgreens will handle insurance paperwork for payment. Attendees should bring their insurance card. Free flu shots are available to uninsured attendees as well.

Screenings will take approximately 15 minutes. Time slots are available throughout the day.

Event attendees will be pre-screened for diabetes, then those who qualify will be screened using Siemens A1C Analyzers. Results are ready within seven minutes and attendees will meet with a credentialed Duke provider to review results.

We will provide cholesterol screenings using the Cholestech LDX™ System. Results are ready within seven minutes, and attendees will meet with a credentialed Duke provider to review results.

If your screening values are elevated, our on-site providers will be available to discuss your results with you and reach out to your provider to report your results. Duke Primary Care schedulers will be on hand to schedule follow-up appointments for you, if needed.

 

Yes. Duke Primary Care schedulers will be on site to schedule new and follow-up patient appointments as well as behavioral health appointments in an office convenient to you. Uninsured attendees can meet with our Community Outreach Volunteers for a list of free clinics.

Our Duke Primary Care schedulers can set you up with a new Duke network provider on the spot.

Cardiac Scoring and Breast and Lung education is provided by Duke Imaging. Our nurses will walk you through the importance of screening for both breast and lung cancer, especially if you are considered a high-risk candidate. Duke Imaging can schedule appointments for your imaging needs on-site.

Yes, Duke GET Clinic providers will provide the Zarit Caregiver Burden screening tool and talk with caregivers about resources available in the community. GET Clinic providers conduct geriatric assessments to include, nutrition, strength and balance, and cognition assessments.

During the vision screening, a provider will look at signs and symptoms of eye problems and conduct a distance visual acuity for each eye.

For those with no vision insurance or who have trouble accessing vision resources, we will provide one pair of prescription eyeglasses. You must have a valid eye prescription from an eye doctor for this service. Please bring a copy of your prescription in either paper or electronic (picture, PDF, etc.) form to the clinic. Glasses will be mailed to you after the conference.
 

Prevent Blindness NC (PBNC) will offer free retinal screenings. These quick, non-invasive screenings help evaluate the overall health of the eye and can detect early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts, among others. Pictures will be taken of the left and right eye that identifies glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. Pictures will be reviewed and read after the conference, and if follow-up is needed, Prevent Blindness will reach out to you directly to make a referral. 

Early detection is key to protecting your vision—stop by and get your eyes checked! 

Walgreens will provide flu vaccinations.

Walgreens will handle all paperwork for processing and payment through your insurance company. Fill out the Vaccination Administration Record (VAR) Informed Consent form and Walgreens will take care of the rest. Free flu vouchers will be provided for any uninsured general attendees.

During "Save Your Back!" you'll learn safe techniques for bed mobility repositioning, rolling and transitioning in and out of bed, see a hands-on demonstration of activities of daily living (ADLs) with the help of transfer equipment, and view a demonstration of commonly used adaptive tools used to support safe transfers.

Community organizations have come together to create an adult incontinence product bank dedicated to assisting individuals with their incontinence needs. If you or someone you care for requires adult diapers, barrier creams, or related products, we are here to help. Our compassionate team of volunteers will provide these essential items free of charge while supplies last.

Community outreach volunteers will assist with additional resources. They can walk you through resources for behavioral health, transportation, local food banks, and Diaper Bank of North Carolina, to name a few.

Exhibitors and sponsors are welcome at the DukeWELL-ness clinic but should attend during session times, leaving break time for attendees. Check your exhibitor packet for more information.
