About Me

I have been passionate about breast imaging and intervention since early in my career and have devoted much of my 18 years of practice to subspecializing in this area as a radiologist. I am committed to finding breast cancers early, as early detection undoubtedly saves lives. I feel one of the most important aspects of what I do as a radiologist is to support, guide, and provide perspective to patients when they are being evaluated for or are first diagnosed with breast cancer. I tailor my approach to each patient individually, hoping to make a positive impact on their experience. Prior to joining Duke University’s Community Division of Radiology, I served as Medical Director and Chief of Breast Imaging at the Betty Ford Breast Center. I developed the Breast MRI program in 2007, one of the first facilities to provide MRI-guided breast biopsies in Michigan. I have four children, who keep me busy and have taught me more than all of my years of schooling! I love reading, playing tennis, and watching college football.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

I am interested in clinical research with regard to new and improved breast imaging modalities, such as abbreviated breast MRI and potentially less invasive, imaging-guided treatments. I would like to see greater access to more sensitive screening exams for women with dense breasts. This could involve improving current imaging modalities or making them more efficient and cost-effective so that they are more widely available. In addition, I am interested in new treatment options that are more specifically directed to the disease and less harmful to the body as a whole.
