About Me
My clinical interest is in caring for patients with pre-cancerous and cancerous conditions of the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas. I enjoy treating each patient with a personalized and holistic therapeutic plan, oftentimes using creativity to tailor treatment specifically to them. Being a surgeon at Duke means that I can collaborate with experts from many different specialties and work with a team of caring, compassionate, and talented support staff to provide an unrivaled experience and the best outcomes for patients. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my wife, two children, and dog, exploring the natural beauty of Durham and surrounding areas in North Carolina, and supporting local entrepreneurs by dining at local restaurants and attending events in the community, such as the Durham Farmers' Market.

Clinical Focus and Research
I am dedicated to advancing cancer care and improving patient outcomes through research. My research explores genomic and molecular pathways of resistance to chemotherapy for hepatobiliary cancers. Specifically, we use a pre-clinical model for primary hepatic malignancies, such as intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, to recapitulate critical events in these tumors so that we can identify mechanisms driving tumor growth, metastasis, and resistance to chemotherapy. Ultimately, this model serves as a vehicle for the discovery of new or more efficacious therapies.
