WHERE I PROVIDE CARE
Profile
ABOUT ME

I enjoy being a rheumatologist because I get to work with patients over many years with the goal of improving or maintaining their quality of life. My main clinical areas of expertise are in systemic lupus erythematosus and inflammatory myopathies, especially dermatomyositis. I co-founded the Duke Lupus Clinic in 2007, recognizing the many challenges in living with and managing lupus and related diseases. I am also passionate about education. I have run the Duke Rheumatology Fellowship Program to train rheumatology doctors since 2008. We graduate three to four new rheumatologists per year. For the Duke Department of Medicine, I chair the Program for Women in Internal Medicine to help advance women's career satisfaction, and I also lead the education scholarship branch of the department's faculty development academy. When not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children.
