About Me
I am a family medicine doctor, and I went into medicine because I wanted to help people lead healthy lives. I grew up along the border of Texas and Mexico, where there are a lot of health disparities and chronic illness is rampant. My mother went through hospitalizations and dealt with chronic illness since I was a child. Having spent so much time seeing what it was like for her to be a patient and how fundamental health is, I wanted to do my part to make sure that people had access to health care, be a partner in health with my patients, and help them advocate for what they need. I enjoy getting to work with patients of all ages and treating families. Outside of medicine, I enjoy walking, reading, spending time with my pets and wife, and finding new places.

I like to do research that involves me talking and working with community members to focus on issues important to the communities I serve. My interests are in addiction, LGBTQ+ care, mobile health, primary care, health care for people experiencing homelessness, justice-involved communities, and ways we can combat racism within science and medicine. My passion is expanding access to primary care outside of clinical spaces and into neighborhoods.
