About Me
There are two things I love about being a chiropractor: the individuals I get to care for and the opportunity to couple the science of musculoskeletal function with the art of compassionate hands-on care. Each patient I see is unique, and each one requires a personalized combination of that science and art. And I get to figure that out every time I step into the treatment room.
Before coming to Duke I practiced at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. There, I came to recognize the efficacy of team-based spine care. Chiropractic provides relief for a broad spectrum of spine-related disorders, such as back pain, neck pain, tension headaches, sciatic pain, and myofascial pain. But chiropractic is not right for every condition, nor for every patient. As chiropractors, my partners and I take pride in our ability to get patients with spinal disorders to the right provider, for the right care, at the right time.
When I'm not in the clinic, I also enjoy conducting research, raising kids, practicing yoga, serving in my faith community, reading classics and biographies, contemplating the cosmos (especially outdoors), and dancing with my wife.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Doctor Holmes is great knows how to take care of my problem.
Dr. Holmes is kind, patient, explained each motion he was going to make, showed me how to do the exercises he wanted me to do and then had me do several repetitions to make sure I understood what he wanted me to do.
Dr. Holmes was excellent in explaining my problem with my back.
