Ashley N. Hill, PhD

Diversity and multiculturalism are the guiding principles that underlie my clinical work and identity as a counseling psychologist. When working with patients in health care settings, applying multiculturalism acknowledges the patient’s experience in the context of their intersecting identities, the intersecting identities of their providers, and the historical and cultural background of the health care delivery system. Broadly, my research and clinical interests are rooted in women’s health with an emphasis on health inequities and perinatal mental health. I primarily see patients who are experiencing anxiety, depression or others mood disorders during pregnancy or postpartum. I also work with individuals who are struggling with infertility and loss. I have received training in a variety of evidence-based treatments, but I primarily employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Overall, my work has been influenced by my desire to recognize resilience within clinical populations with diverse gender and racial backgrounds. Outside of work, I enjoy eating different cuisines, gardening, reading novels, and watching science fiction movies.
