About Me
I am an acute care and wound care physical therapist at Duke University Hospital and primarily work in the Emergency Department but cover a variety of inpatient units. My special interests in physical therapy include wound care, multiple sclerosis care, geriatrics, neurology, and post-surgical care. I am a Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist and received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with specialized training as a Multiple Sclerosis Scholar.
I was drawn to physical therapy because I enjoy working with people to achieve their mobility and health related goals. I have a research background in Biology from Duke University, and I continue to value research guided clinical practice and evidence-based therapy with my patients. I have been a Durham, North Carolina resident for 20 years by way of California. When I'm not working, I enjoy good coffee, yoga, hiking, music, and spending time with my kids and pets.

I am working with Dr Joshua Johnson and colleagues at Duke University Hospital to study patient and hospital outcomes when patients with acute stroke-related rehabilitation needs discharge from the hospital to home with a high-intensity home health PT program as an alternative to the more standard pathway of discharging to a subacute inpatient rehabilitation setting before returning home. I am a PT interventionist for a multi-site clinical research study to understand the impacts of high-intensity interval training and exercise on patients who have been hospitalized with COVID-19 with the guidance of Dr Amy Pastva and colleagues.
