NC Woman Plans to Donate Eggs Again After Positive Experience at Duke Fertility Center
After Chasity gave birth to her children, she became an egg donor at the Duke Fertility Center to help others wanting to have a family. “I feel a sense of pride in myself that I was able to help somebody in this way,” she said.
A Passion for Fertility
As a mom of two, Chasity never struggled with infertility, but it’s a topic she feels passionate about after watching her friends cope with the challenges of trying to conceive, and benefit from fertility treatments and egg donation. She knows the impact egg donation can have.
After Chasity and her husband completed their family, she considered how she could help others who wanted to start their family. “I knew I still had an ability to help others and I didn’t want that to go to waste,” she said. “The joy that my family brings me is everything and I really believe that everybody deserves to have that in their life.”
Chasity, 27, chose to become an egg donor at Duke Fertility Center. “I went to Duke because of their willingness to work with and support families of all compositions,” she said.
Egg Donation Was a Smooth Process
When Chasity applied to become an egg donor, she said the process was quick and straightforward. She went through prescreening and completed assessments to make sure she was in good health and able to donate. After she was approved, her information was compiled into a profile for potential recipients to view. At Duke Fertility Center, egg donors only donate after they are chosen by a recipient.
Once Chasity matched with a recipient, the process took about two weeks. Leading up to the egg retrieval procedure, Chasity gave herself injections to help stimulate her ovaries to produce eggs. “Everything seemed very normal; it kind of felt like I was going to start my cycle or had a little bit of bloating,” she explained. After her egg retrieval procedure, everything went back to normal. “It surprised me how quick it was,” she said.
Looking to Donate Again
Throughout the egg donation process, Chasity worked with a coordinator who regularly checked in, and answered her questions. “The team has been wonderful,” she said. Her first donation cycle was such a positive experience that Chasity plans to do it again. “I know that this was absolutely the right decision,” she said.
Consider Becoming an Egg Donor
Chasity encourages anyone thinking of becoming an egg donor to reach out to Duke Fertility Clinic. “If you’re considering it, I say absolutely do it” she said. “Even if you’re on the fence, just go and see if you meet the requirements, do the prescreening, and ask questions.”
If you’re interested in becoming an egg donor, please fill out the application. A nurse will contact you to discuss the next steps after it is submitted.
