Our Providers
High-Risk Pregnancy Care in Durham
Our perinatologists are board-certified obstetricians-gynecologists who complete additional years of fellowship training in maternal-fetal medicine. They provide care for both you and your fetus before and during high-risk pregnancies and deliveries. Our services include:
Pre-Pregnancy Consultations
If you have an existing medical concern, you can meet with our team to plan for conception and ensure you can achieve a healthy pregnancy.
High-Risk Pregnancy Care
In addition to caring for pregnant women with medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and lupus, our perinatologists manage high-risk pregnancies in women carrying multiples (twins, triplets, and more), as well as women with placenta previa, placenta accreta, and other placental implantation anomalies, conditions that refer to the abnormal placement or attachment of the placenta that can lead to significant complications.
Fetal Cardiology Consultations If an obstetrical ultrasound scan identifies a potential problem with your baby’s heart or if your baby has risk factors for heart disease, you may meet with a pediatric cardiologist in our clinic for a consultation and treatment recommendations for after your baby is delivered.
Fetal Diagnostic Imaging and Screening
If a concern is suspected, advanced imaging may be recommended to help doctors detect and monitor issues that can occur as your baby develops.
The following tests may be performed in the Fetal Diagnostic Center. Because this clinic is considered a hospital-based clinic, these services are subject to additional fees. These tests are performed and interpreted by our specially trained technicians and specialists.
- Amniocentesis
- Chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
- Fetal diagnostic and obstetrical ultrasounds
- Fetal echocardiograms
- Fetal monitoring (NST)
- First-trimester screening
- Genetic counseling
