Depending on your needs, you may benefit from meetings with our social workers or dietitians. We can also provide time with financial care counselors who can help you get payment authorizations and plans. Our patient and family therapists provide ongoing counseling to you and your family to manage psychological and emotional well-being during treatment. Nurse navigators can schedule and guide you through appointments, tests, and procedures.
Programs for Patients and Families
Patients have access to a variety of services at Duke Cancer Center Raleigh and throughout the Triangle. These include:
Our Symptom Management Clinic provides an alternative to an emergency room visit for phlebotomy and port access services, blood transfusion, antibiotics, antivirals, and more. It is open from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on all weekends and holidays, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Call 919-862-5400 to speak to the on-call provider or to schedule an appointment. This is not a walk-in clinic.
Mindfulness Sessions
Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for managing the stress of a life with and after cancer. To help you and your caregivers develop mindfulness tools, the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program offers no-cost virtual sessions that teach mind and body approaches to coping with cancer. Registration is required. Call 919-681-6835 or email to sign up.
Feedback
Our goal is to provide you with high-quality care and an outstanding patient experience. To best serve you and identify opportunities for improvement, we depend on the feedback of our patients. About two weeks after your first appointment, you may receive in the mail a patient satisfaction survey. Please take a few moments to complete the survey and return it in the postage-paid envelope provided.
If your feedback is urgent or if you wish to speak with someone, please contact our patient advocates at 919-862-5848.
