About Me
I love to help people change how they regulate their emotions, and to relate better to others, so that they can live a life consistent with their values. This passion translates across all areas of my work, including research, education, clinical services, training clinicians in the community, and overseeing clinical activities in the Duke Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with friends and family at the hockey rink, watching my kids do the thing that they love to do the most.

Clinical Focus and Research
I have two areas of research. The first is understanding difficulties managing emotions in adults with borderline personality disorder and other difficult-to-treat problems. The second is developing new ways to help adult outpatients outside the clinic using mobile phones.
