About Me

I am a physician assistant with over 25 years of experience in neurosurgery. I have a particular interest in movement disorders and am the manager of our neurosurgery neuromodulation program. As part of this role, I see patients who are potential candidates for deep brain stimulation and/or MRI guided high frequency ultrasound (HIFU) for the treatment of symptoms related to conditions such as essential tremor and parkinson's disease. I particularly enjoy taking extra time to educate my patients. I want them to have a good understanding of why a procedure may or may not be recommended, what that procedure involves, and what to expect before, during, and after surgery. As a parent of adult children and a daughter of aging parents, I have a great deal of compassion for my patients and their families. My hobbies include spending time with family, especially my fabulous husband, and gardening.

Before scheduling your appointment, we strongly recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the Duke Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any co-payments, co–insurances, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with Duke, your out of pocket liability may be higher. We will contact you regarding your coverage and patient liability. If you are uninsured, learn more about our financial assistance policy.
