About Me
I am Swedish-American, born in Kenya, and had a nomadic youth moving around Central and Latin America, Southeast Asia, and East Africa. College brought me to the United States, Teach for America brought me to North Carolina, the American Dance Festival brought me to Durham, and the community I found in the Bull City has kept me here for 25 years! Working in community health is the perfect place for me to combine my passion for preventive medicine with my commitment to multiculturalism and social justice. I feel proud to be part of a team that is dedicated to providing quality health care to medically underserved and uninsured members of the Durham community. I am fluent in Spanish and speak a smattering of Hindi, Swahili, Swedish, and Urdu. I am especially interested in immigrant and refugee health issues, women’s and adolescent health, mental health, and in providing trauma-informed care. Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, swimming, and gardening.
