About Me
Growing up in rural Jamaica, I have always had a questioning mind. It was this desire to learn and expand my knowledge that allowed me to matriculate into medical school as the top student at my university. I continued to explore various facets of my interest including the arts and advocacy during those years. In my practice of neonatology, my interests center on the evolving care of peri-viable neonates with extensive clinical experience in multiple care settings in both the developing and first world settings developing treatment protocols and enhancing equitable and quality care. I have experience as a medical educator with a particular focus in multidisciplinary learning and dynamic use of simulation-based training. These interests also align with global health interests which involve improving quality care provided in low resource settings with a focus on educating providers. Outside of work, I'm an avid tennis fan and a lover of the arts particular theatre and dance. I cannot forget my love for all things food.

Clinical Focus and Research
I have 2 primary research interests. On the more cutting edge aspect I have studied the role of oxygen exposure in neonatal lung diseases, specifically looking at how small particles released from damaged cells that may impact on how the lung develops. More clinically relevant, I'm interested in how we can use ultrasound to improve the quality of care provided in the NICU and use of simulation to streamline this care across providers and different levels of staff.
