Since my own diagnosis with type 1 diabetes at just four years old, I have aspired to live as an example that people with diabetes can accomplish anything that someone can in a life without diabetes. My personal experiences as a patient living with this diagnosis has afforded me the ability to empathize with and support patients from a unique perspective and to foster strong connections. I believe in meeting patients where they are and individualizing care to help patients and families set reasonable goals based on their current readiness. I enjoy providing tailored education to help patients identify and understand their own unique bodies and needs and helping them access technology and tools that can support these needs. I am especially passionate about empowering patients to maintain blood glucose control during the activities and sports they enjoy so that they may continue safely and fully participating in the things that make their lives fulfilling. I am also eager to help my patients identify if and when they may benefit from mental health support, recognizing the impact that chronic illness can have on daily living. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and our Australian Shepherd. I love being outdoors and hiking and visiting the NC mountains any chance I get. Overall, I enjoy exercising, watching my Tar Heels, and sipping a delicious cup of coffee.
