About Me

When communication doesn’t happen as expected or is abruptly changed due to a brain damage, there is a real and functional impact on the lives of the patient and their loved ones. Being a clinically certified speech-language pathologist has allowed me to serve to improve communication in individuals with augmentative and alternative communication needs and adults who have brain damage due to stroke or other degenerative diseases. I firmly believe in compassionate, evidence-based care for optimal patient outcomes. My clinical practice is rooted in my faith and love for the profession of speech-language pathology. As a wife and mother of a son and a daughter, I am dedicated to serving each patient as if they were my family in a way that optimizes communicative independence, which ultimately improves quality of life.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

My research investigates the impact of right hemisphere brain damage (RHD) on pragmatic communication performance. It is my long-term research goal to contribute to the increased recognition and distinction of the communicative impact of stroke based on hemisphere of lesion. To do this, I aim to identify diagnostic markers of impaired communication as a precursor for engineering population-specific assessment and treatment protocols to enhance functional integration of persons with brain damage into their respective communities.
