Profile
ABOUT ME

As a medical specialist in infectious diseases, I focus my research and clinical work on studying infections in highly immunosuppressed patients. Most of the patients in my clinic have HIV infection, organ transplantation, or other immune-compromised conditions. My primary research interest is studying the basic biology behind invasive fungal infections in these patient populations. I am also committed to medical education and training scientists in microbial pathogenesis research.

MY RESEARCH INTERESTS

As a physician and scientist, I focus primarily on diseases that occur in patients with severely impaired immune systems. My basic science research laboratory defines ways in which pathogenic microorganisms sense and respond to the infected human host, with a goal to develop new strategies to treat infectious diseases. My clinical work primarily involves treating infections in patients with transplants, HIV infection, and other serious defects of immunity.
