About Me
I am a vascular and general neurologist. My subspecialty training is in vascular neurology, which includes the treatment of stroke and other disorders affecting the blood vessels in the brain and neck. I also treat people with seizures, headaches, autoimmune conditions affecting the brain and spine, disorders of movement, and disorders of muscle. I have a particular interest in treating people with "cryptogenic" stroke or a stroke for which no reason has been identified. I am also interested in strokes affecting the eye (central retinal artery occlusion) and much of my research is in this area.

Clinical Focus and Research
I study central retinal artery occlusion - a form of stroke affecting the back part of the eye (retina). I believe that this condition is a close cousin of brain stroke and should be treated in exactly the same way. I seek to understand the causes of this condition, its effect on quality of life and acute treatments and have collaborated with groups in the United States and Europe on this question. My research has been published in the scientific journals Stroke, Neurology, Annals of Neurology, and Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry.
