My broad area of interest is in cardiology, but I am specifically interested in patients who have cardiac arrhythmias and patients who have syncope, where there is a transient loss of consciousness. My favorite part of my job is evaluating patients, specifically spending a lot of time to get as much information as I can from listening to the heart. After examining each patient thoroughly, I try to formulate a plan of care, combining my work in research with clinic care. Here at Duke we see the very simple to the most complex forms of cardiovascular surgery and have interventional cardiologists who use the latest technologies to evaluate and manage patients with valvular heart disease and cardiac arrhythmias to offer the best cardiovascular care that’s available in the US. I am Jamaican by birth but spent a significant amount of time in Scotland, where I received my degree.
