About Me
I am currently the chief of the division of Epilepsy, Sleep, and Clinical Neurophysiology. I see epilepsy patients and patients with sleep disorders. The epilepsy patients that I see often have a hard time controlling their seizures or have other epilepsy-related problems. At Duke, we have many options, including clinical trials, advanced medications, and surgical options, that we can offer patients to get them to a better quality of life with fewer or no seizures. In sleep disorders, I see many patients with sleep apnea and have a passion for treating individuals with narcolepsy. My philosophy is that I want patients to be aware of all the different treatment options that they have available this them. Together, we come up with what I, the patient, and the family think is the best approach for the individual. This way, we can individualize the treatment for each person. It is very gratifying for me to see patients doing so much better with the appropriate medications and pursuing the dreams they have and doing the things they really want to do.

Ratings and Reviews
The ratings and reviews are based on patient responses to the overall provider rating question from the survey. The question reads: “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” Responses are converted to a 5-point rating system and applied consistently to all providers. Learn more about our survey process. Patients who see some types of providers receive a different version of the patient satisfaction survey. Those results are not available on DukeHealth.org.

Listened to me. Did not act like he was in a hurry
Listen carefully in my concerns and needs and responded appropriately. Very polite and attentive.
Dr. Aatif Husain is a wonderful dedicated Doctor.
It was excellent, Dr Hussain and his medical assistant Chloe are in my mind two of the best of the medical staff in that clinic, which is clinic 1l and in the whole medical staff of new hospital. Doctor Hussain is such a great doctor, a great doctor!
Dr, Husain takes the time to listen your concerns and provides answers you can understand.
They showed their compassion and wanted to work with my needs
Treats me as an individual, listens to what I have to say, provides advice and guidance. I consider Dr. Husain one of the best physicians at Duke.
Dr Husain is always caring and listens with patience to all my concerns
