Virtual Survivorship Day Schedule

Wednesday, June 5, 2024, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

On Wednesday, June 5, our virtual offerings will include a live panel discussion open to audience participation, and interactive workshops highlighting cancer support and survivorship services.

Survivorship Week is presented by Duke Cancer Institute’s Supportive Care & Survivorship Center

Virtual Events Schedule

During this class, attendees use slow, focused movements, accompanied by deep breathing. Practice a graceful self-paced form of exercise that is used for stress reduction. Its low-impact nature puts minimal stress on the joints, making it generally safe for all fitness levels.

Instructor: Jay Dunbar, Ph.D., Director of the Magic Tortoise Taijiquan School

Through the various techniques of sound healing, vocalizing, toning, and freewriting, people can gain the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual benefits of honoring their own voice and working with their built-in, stress-relieving musical instrument.

The tools and techniques discussed and practiced in this workshop will assist you in daily life. These small actions, when used routinely, will help you to pay mindful attention to your heart and voice, while experiencing the health benefits of sound, vibration, and self-expression, with clarity and joy.

Instructor, Karen Novy, Vocal and Sound Healing Coach

During this panel presentation, a team of Duke Cancer Institute experts will discuss how cancer survivorship has evolved and highlight the future direction of this growing population. Members of the panel will answer patients' and caregivers’ questions on topics related to cancer survivorship.
