Make Sure Your Plan Includes Duke Health During Open Enrollment

Open enrollment has begun. Here are some key dates to keep in mind:

  • Medicare enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7, 2026.
  • Health insurance marketplace enrollment dates TBD.

Duke Health to Continue Caring for State Health Plan Members in 2027 Under New Access Provider Network 

Duke Health has been selected as an Access Provider in the North Carolina State Health Plan’s new tiered provider network for 2027, ensuring state employees and their families can continue receiving care through Duke beginning January 1, 2027.

The agreement ensures State Health Plan members will continue to have access to high quality, affordable care as the Plan introduces its new tiered provider network. Access Providers help ensure members can continue receiving high quality, affordable under the Plan’s new provider network. For members who choose Duke Health, that means continued access to the full spectrum of Duke Health services, from routine primary care to nationally recognized specialty care, including cancer care, transplants and other highly specialized treatments.

As an Access Provider, Duke Health will continue offering State Health Plan members access to its statewide network of hospitals, physician practices and ambulatory locations across North Carolina, connecting patients to the full range of primary care, specialty care and highly specialized treatments available through Duke Health. In 2025, State Health Plan members received care through Duke Health more than 253,000 times.

Medicare Enrollment Dates: October 15 to December 7, 2025

Now is the time to:

  • Review the “Evidence of Coverage” (EOC) and “Annual Notice of Change” (ANOC) from Medicare.
  • Ensure your plans will meet your healthcare needs in the upcoming year.

You can switch participation between Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans during enrollment.

Duke Health is in-network with several Medicare Advantage plans, including Experience Health– Medicare Advantage (HMO Plan), a partnership between Duke Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC. Experience Health offers access to Primary Care and Specialty Care providers from Duke Health and WakeMed Key Community Care.
