Duke Spine Center

Duke Spine Center

Type:Duke University Hospital Outpatient Department
Hospital-based clinics are an extension of Duke Health hospitals and have additional facility charges. Some insurance companies process bills with a deductible and coinsurance rather than as a co-pay as for an office visit. This may impact the amount of the bill you are responsible for after payment from your insurance plan. Check with your insurance company before your visit to determine what your responsibility will be.

The Duke Spine Center is North Carolina’s most comprehensive, interdisciplinary care center for people with back pain, neck pain and spine abnormalities. Our team of neurosurgeons, orthopaedic spine surgeons, physiatrists, physical therapists and behavioral health counselors provide patients with a wide range of surgical and nonsurgical options, as well as access to state-of-the-art medical equipment and nationally-recognized clinical trials.

Preparing For Your Visit

If you are visiting our office for the first time, we ask that you bring:

  • A list of your current medications
  • Copies of any recent medical records
  • Copies of physical therapy records
  • Copies of X-rays, CT scans or MRI images regarding the reason for the visit

Please review our clinical guidelines prior to your appointment.

Please plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to your appointment to insure you have enough time to park. Payment for parking is also required.

Download a PDF guide that includes information on what to expect during your visit.

Give yourself plenty of time to get to your appointment. Your doctor may ask you to arrive early so that you can have lab tests completed before your examination. Even if this is not the case, we suggest that you should allow about 45 minutes to get to your appointment in addition to your travel time to Durham. This will allow you sufficient time to park, locate the building, get to the particular clinic you're visiting, and register. Duke Clinic is approximately a quarter of a mile from the nearest parking deck. Please note that appointments may be subject to being rescheduled upon late arrivals.

Informal clothing and comfortable shoes are appropriate attire for your visit.
