SWOG S2504 pirAMID - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the usual treatment alone or the usual treatment plus the study drug pirtobrutinib. Treatment is given in cycles and includes a combination of cancer medicines called R-CHOP, or a lower dose version called R-mini-CHOP for participants age 75 and older. Researchers will compare how well the treatments work and how safe they are.

What is the Condition Being Studied?

This study is for people with Richter transformation, a condition in which chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL) changes into a faster growing type of lymphoma called large B cell lymphoma. Participants cannot have received prior treatment for Richter transformation.

Who Can Participate in the Study?

Participants may be able to join if they are adults with Richter transformation and are able to carry out most daily activities. They must meet certain heart health requirements if they have a history of heart disease or treatments that can affect the heart. Participants cannot have had major surgery within the past 28 days.

Age Group
Adults

What is Involved?

This study is testing whether adding the study drug pirtobrutinib to the usual treatment for Richter transformation is safe and works better than the usual treatment alone. Researchers want to learn if the combination can slow the disease from getting worse and help people live longer.
