Resolve SIRS study - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

During the hospital stay, the study team will collect small blood samples up to three times. The team will also gather information about your health from your medical records.

What is the Condition Being Studied?

Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) in critically ill surgical patients

Who Can Participate in the Study?

People can join this study if they are 18 years or older and are staying in the hospital. They must have had a very serious injury or a sudden loss of blood flow and be at risk for a serious body reaction called SIRS. People can also join if they already have SIRS caused by a severe injury or sudden loss of blood flow.

Age Group
Adults

What is Involved?

This study is being done to learn more about a substance called extracellular RNA in very sick surgical patients. Some of these patients have a serious body reaction called SIRS or may be at risk for it. Researchers will measure this substance in the blood to see how it changes as a patient gets better or worse during their illness.
