SiMPLe (Stroke) - Clinical Trial

What is the Purpose of this Study?

We are doing this study to learn more about the connection between the brain and leg muscles in people who have chronic stroke. We want to understand how this connection affects the walking abilities of chronic stroke patients so we can provide better help to stroke patients who need to improve their motor function.

What is the Condition Being Studied?

Chronic Stroke

Who Can Participate in the Study?

Adults ages 21-85 who:

  • Were diagnosed with their first ever single, unilateral, chronic hemispheric infarction at least 6 months ago
  • Can walk on their own for at least 1 minute
  • Do not have evidence of a brainstem stroke or any other neurologic condition besides stroke
  • Do not have a pacemaker or any intracranial (inside the skull) metallic implants
  • We are also enrolling adults with no history of stroke or any other neurologic condition to participate as a study control group for comparison.
