The BACk Study - Clinical Trial
What is the Purpose of this Study?
We will schedule you to attend 3 in-person study visits over the course of 6 months. The visits will take place either in Durham, NC or Kannapolis, NC. Each visit involves functional testing, having a small blood draw and providing a urine sample, completing a brief pain assessment, and answering questionnaires about your pain experiences and general wellbeing. After 12 months, we will ask you to fill out some additional questionnaires online.
Acute Low Back Pain
Who Can Participate in the Study?
Adults ages 18+ who:
- Have been experiencing low back pain for FOUR or fewer weeks with no specific cause
- Have an email address and access to a computer

What is Involved?
We are doing this study to understand how different factors, such as pain experiences and inflammation, may affect how acute back pain transitions to chronic back pain.
