I am a dentist and oral medicine specialist. I chose my specialty because I enjoyed learning about the complexity of the oral cavity as well as collaborating with a wide range of health care providers to provide integrated oral health care to medically complex patients. Oral medicine trained providers can treat a wide variety of conditions affecting the oral cavity. We diagnose and treat acute and chronic oral complications of head and neck radiation therapy, chemotherapy, bisphosphonate treatment, solid organ transplant, bone marrow transplant, and cardiac surgery. Our service can also diagnose and treat oral lesions due to medical illness (herpes, yeast, canker sores), oral mucosal diseases (lichen planus, pemphigus, pemphigoid), oral ramifications of cancer treatment (mucositis, GVHD, osteoradionecrosis, dry mouth, trismus, radiation caries), autoimmune diseases (Sjogren’s, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma), and dry mouth related to medical illness/treatment. When I am not in clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, and running as well as crochet and embroidery projects.
