About Me

I primarily work in the field of cardiothoracic anesthesia and critical care and look after patients who undergo heart, aortic, or lung operations. I focus on ensuring they are safe and comfortable throughout their surgical experience, including the immediate postoperative period, which can be crucial to recovery. As a critical care medicine specialist, I work in the cardiac surgical ICU and care for the critically ill who have undergone cardiac or thoracic surgery, including heart and lung transplantation. When I am not working, I enjoy traveling, cooking, and oil painting.

Clinical Focus and Research

My Research Interests

My research focuses on factors that are associated with complications related to kidney function after heart surgery. I also am trying to determine patterns of kidney complications and what determines recovery of kidney function. I am also involved with clinical trials of interventions that may help prevent or reduce kidney complications after surgery. I am also keenly involved in research using ultrasound to improve outcomes after heart surgery.
