About Me

Over more than 21 years of practice as a family physician, the most rewarding aspect of my experience has been the bonds that I have developed with my patients and their families over the years. I have enjoyed living and practicing in a small community. I feel privileged to care for entire families, from the five-day-old newborn to the 100-plus-year-old. In my practice, I stress prevention of illness through lifestyle modification and early detection of disease. I strive to set a good example to my patients by living my life in a healthy way and maintaining a healthy weight through careful diet and regular exercise. I try to reflect my practice goals through my own life choices. During my career I have had various rewarding experiences. I started out in Wilmington, Delaware, where I gained fluency in Spanish, and moved on to a position as town doctor in a tiny, picturesque village in the rural western mountains of Maine. I have been in my current position at Duke Primary Care Henderson for more than eight years. I am blessed to be blissfully married to my soul mate for 25 years, to be the mother of two college-age daughters, and the owner of two big, cuddly dogs (Akitas). My husband and I enjoy exploring the country on our spider (three-wheel motorcycle).
