What is the Purpose of this Study?
We are doing this study to find out how well an emotion regulation skills training program can help expecting mothers lower stress during pregnancy and improve their heart rate.
Emotion Dysregulation During Pregnancy
Who Can Participate in the Study?
Adults ages 18-45 who:
- Are at least 12 weeks pregnant
- Are carrying a single child
- Are not diagnosed with any form of psychosis

What is Involved?
If you choose to join this study, you will get a random assignment to either:
- Participate in the study as part of an assessment only control group; OR
- Participate in the study skills training group
If you are assigned to the study skills training group, you will complete 10 weeks of remote weekly emotion regulation skills groups that last 2-2.5 hours each week and will take place over remote video (Zoom). Participants will also complete homework and daily diary questions about mood and any thoughts of self-harm.
Both groups will complete surveys and clinical interviews asking questions about your emotions, coping skills, and stress levels during 3 in-person sessions at our lab. Heart rate will be collected as well at each session.
You can get in touch with us to discuss the study in further detail by filling out an interest form online: https://redcap.duke.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=YXM4XNRL4L3T34PM
