A group of inherited disorders that cause progressive muscle weakness and deterioration, muscular dystrophy (MD) includes:

  • Becker's muscular dystrophy
  • Duchenne muscular dystrophy
  • Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy
  • Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSMD)
  • Limb-Girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD)
  • Myotonia congenita
  • Myotonic dystrophy

Duke’s specialized team of clinicians is here to expertly and sensitively care for patients suffering from all forms of muscular dystrophy, while our scientists make ongoing progress in unraveling these conditions at the cellular level.

In addition to providing state-of-the-art diagnostic services, Duke offers MD patients the latest drug therapies, physical therapy techniques, and support services. Patients may also qualify for participation in clinical drug trials and research studies conducted at Duke.
