Duke’s Hyperbaric, Diving, and Altitude Medicine Program is a multidisciplinary offering of the Duke Center for Hyperbaric Medicine and Environmental Physiology.

Using hyperbaric oxygen therapy, our cross-disciplinary team of experts serves patients suffering from conditions that include:

• Air or gas embolism
• Carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation
• Compromised skin grafts and flaps
• Decompression sickness (“the bends”)
• Necrotizing soft tissue infections
• Problem and slow-healing wounds
• Severe blood loss and anemia

The program’s multidisciplinary team provides additional services including fitness assessment for prospective divers and simulated altitude evaluations for patients whose medical conditions could put them at risk for flying.
